Auto Repair in McQueeny, TX
McQueeny, TX
The unincorporated community of McQueeny, TX, is part of the Canyon Lake metropolitan area, located in central Guadalupe County. McQueeny sits along the Guadalupe River, about six miles west of Seguin and 10 miles from New Braunfels. Roughly 2,600 people live across a land area of 4.2 square miles.
German settlers came to the region around 1870. When the railroad was built in 1876, the local stop was named Hilda. Then in 1900, a local businessman built a general store east of Hilda. Hoping to get the railroad to move its stop to his store, he called the site “McQueeney” in honor of the local railroad superintendent.
Lake McQueeney, also known as Lake Abbott, was created in 1925 by damming the Guadalupe River. It has grown more and more popular over the years as a place for recreation and summer homes. Treasure Island is an upscale residential neighborhood within the lake.
